Google's new wearable could help doctors work smarter

Google does a lot of things and it can be hard to keep up with its many developments in software and hardware. It's latest innovation is definitely part of the wearable tech revolution but it goes beyond just bringing text messages to your wrist.

Google's new wearable could help doctors work smarter

Their internal research and development division, dubbed Google X, has put out all manner of interesting devices over the years, including the experiment which was Google Glass. And their latest is a smartband which could be used to track a huge number of metrics on patients, giving doctors a lot more data to work with when making their diagnosis.

In addition to measuring heart-rate (which many fitness bands can do), this wrist-worn device also records heart rhythm, skin temperature and even more information like the amount of available light and how noisy the environment is. The aim would be to make it available in clinical situations, as a way for example of getting more accurate data on a patients well-being while doctors are elsewhere.
