Doom's E3 gameplay has a classic vibe to it
Bethesda teased fans with a few seconds of footage but made good on its promise by making a full reveal at E3. The publisher showed off plenty of gameplay from the upcoming title, released a gameplay trailer and made a few interesting announcements.
The gameplay footage is certainly a call back to the early days of the franchise. The player is on the move constantly, has an assortment of weapons to play with and all kinds of big and scary beasts to take down.
There’s also a melee option, which got the attention of fans in attendance.
Stratton also revealed that multiplayer is arena combat in maps set on Mars and in hell. There will be several modes on offer, including Domination and Freeze Tag.
Doom may also appeal to modders. Doom SnapMap will let people build maps, create custom gameplay modes, and tinker with game logic.
Doom will be released in Spring 2016.
