Many people like to take photos of their food. It could soon be of benefit to you if Google has its way. Google is developing an algorithm that will count calories based on photos.

Google hopes to track calories using photos

The project, which is called Im2Calories, will detect foods in a photo based on their physical qualities. Once it detects what foods are on your plate, it then displays a calorie count.

That doesn’t sound promising for poor cooks or those who can’t dish up food very well. Also, if you’re taking a photo before you eat that calorie count could put you right off.
