World War Z sequel will rise in summer 2017
Juan Antonia Bayona (The Orphanage, The Impossible) is set to direct the sequel based on a script written by Steven Knight (Locke, Eastern Promises). There are no plot details just yet. It will be intriguing to see what approach they take considering the first film wrapped things up nicely. The current release date will see World War Z 2 go head-to-head with Fox’s planned release of Fantastic Four 2.Is Paramount gambling that Fox won’t go through with the follow-up to the as-yet-unreleased Fantastic Four? Or does it simply feel confident that World War Z 2 can take on all comers? There’s plenty of time for the release schedule to change. Shooting is unlikely to get underway until the first half of next year. This means that casting news may not start happening until the end of the year.
