HTC slaps new name and lower price tag on One M8
At first glance, the One M8S looks identical to HTC’s recent handsets. You get the same 5-inch 1080p display as the phone it shares a design with, the same premium-feeling metal design, and there’s only a 0.2mm difference in maximum thickness between the two. What is swapped out is the processor. The HTC One M8S will arrive with a 1.7GHz Snapdragon 615 octa-core chip rather than the HTC One M8’s 2.3 GHz Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor. There are some other minor changes too. The battery is slightly larger; there doesn’t seem to be a 32GB model, just a 16GB version with microSD support; and the UltraPixel camera has been dropped in favour of a conventional 13 megapixel camera. The M8S will be available in silver, gold, and gunmetal grey. It will be limited to Europe for the time being, at least. Pricing will vary by country, but HTC confirmed that the One M8S will cost £379.99 SIM-free in the UK.HTC's One M8 is to be repackaged as the One M8S, which is similar to last year's flagship in many ways, bar some spec tweaks and its price.
