New iPhone rumours include curved display and pink colour option

With the novelty of the larger iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus wearing off, attention is turning to what Apple will do next.

New iPhone rumours include curved display and pink colour option

The iPhone 7, or whatever it ends up being called, could feature a curved display. Apple has been granted a patent, spotted by Patently Apple, that covers a “mini flexible edge display." This could point to a couple of different things. Apple could be implementing a lipped screen like what is found on Samsung’s Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy Note Edge. Or it could mean the next iPhone will simply feature a side-mounted display. The filing outlines a couple of different possibilities. The touch buttons and controls can be repurposed depending on what is being done at the time. The volume buttons could become a camera shutter button when the camera is activated, for example. Apple also showcases how virtual buttons on a device's side and back could be used as inputs for gaming.Meanwhile, The Wall Street Journal is reporting that the new iPhone could feature a Force Touch-equipped display. This senses how hard the user is pushing on the screen. This technology is being used in the new MacBook and MacBook Pro’s trackpads. It is also used in the Apple Watch to allow for more input options. This report also says that Apple plans it keep its 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch screen sizes and "similar" resolutions. But those looking for a little more variety in the choice of colours may be pleased to hear that Apple is testing a pink option to go with the silver, gold, and space gray models.Plans, as always, are subject to change. We may not see some of these reported features making the finalised version of the next iPhone. Mass production for some components will begin in May.In Short: A batch of rumours for the next iPhone have come out. Will it be pink? Will it have a curved display? The answer to both is "yes", according to reports.
