Africa sales hit Trinity profits

TRINITY BIOTECH, Ireland’s largest maker of diagnostic tests, said first-quarter profit fell 64% because of lower sales of HIV products in Africa.

Net income declined to $1.05 million (€672,819) from $2.91m (€1.8m) a year earlier, the Dublin- based company said yesterday. Sales dropped 6.5% to $34.3m (€21.9m).
