Revenue published its List of Tax Defaulters for the period July 1 to September 30, which included 30 settlements worth a combined €10.5m.

The 30 cases included two settlements over €1m. Francis Cullen, a machinery sales and repair provider from Old Dublin Road, Enniscorthy, faced a tax bill for non-declaration of income tax, PAYE/PRSI/Universal Social Charge and VAT made up of €859,198 (including a €31,569 surcharge), interest of €204,169, and penalties of €710,729, for a total of €1,774,096.

A Co Westmeath woman also faced a bill of over €1m for non-declaration of income tax and VAT. Marina Jane Loddick from Mount Temple, Moate, faced a tax bill of €482,946 (including a €22,800 surcharge), with €245,270 in interest and €300,368 in penalties, for a total of €1,028,584. The settlement was paid in full.

Three cases exceeded €500,000 but were under €1m. Keith McFadden from Turlough, Castlebar, a motor dealer trading as Sava Motors, faced a tax bill for under-declaration of income tax of €460,245 (including a €7,909 surcharge), with €251,322 in interest and €180,934 in penalties, totalling €892,501.

Helen Moore, a company director from Island Road, Fenit, Tralee, faced a tax bill of €396,168 for under-declaration of income tax, with €168,352 in interest and €118,849 in penalties, totalling €683,369. The settlement was paid in full.

Michael Moorehouse of Church Hill, Fermoy, a tyre sales agent trading as Mike's Tyre Centre, faced a tax bill of €307,299 for under-declaration of income tax and VAT, with €106,189 in interest and €230,474 in penalties, totalling €643,962. The settlement was paid in full.

There were 20 cases between €101,000 and €500,000, while five further settlements were under €100,000.

Separately, 39 cases were published following court-imposed penalties, with €70,247.50 in fines.

One man, Dragos Alin Ocanu, a construction worker with an address in Alicante, Spain, was imprisoned for three months for tobacco smuggling.

There were 15 cases of excise offences for tobacco smuggling, illegal tobacco sales and possession of untaxed tobacco, with total fines of €34,500.

Three people were each fined €2,500 for illegal tobacco sales: Shane Holland of Willow Bank, Upper Fairhill, Cork; Marius Schipor of North Brunswick Street, Dublin; and Alexandriu Mihai Codau of Navan, Co Meath.

There were 14 cases of misuse of marked mineral oil — green diesel — with fines totalling €30,500.

There were four fines for failure to hold a liquor licence. Base Wood Control Management, trading as Base Wood Fired Pizza in Clontarf, Dublin, was fined €632.50, as was Lam Catering, trading as Vendricks Restaurant in Killarney, Co Kerry, which was fined €850.

Publican Patrick Hayes of Clougour Road, Thurles, was fined €632.50, as was Raceside Service Station Ltd of Cashel, Co Tipperary.
