Spending on Black Friday by Irish consumers was up 6.5% this year, while there was also a surge in attempted fraud, according to Visa. 

The international payments firm said it blocked 57% more suspected fraud attempts in 2025 compared with 2024. Common scams Visa identified included fake shopping sites, package delivery scams, “extra holiday cash” job scams, travel fraud, and holiday charity scams.
