The volume of retail sales in Ireland fell 0.5% last month compared to September, figures released by the CSO on Friday showed.

Sectors showing the highest monthly volume decreases were Hardware, Paints & Glass (-3.5%), Clothing, Footwear & Textiles (-1.9%), and Motor Trades (-1.7%). Excluding Motor Trades, the monthly volume of retail sales was down by 0.1% in October compared to September.
