Number of people out of work falls slightly in August

The 25-34 years age group made up the largest number of those on the Live Register in August 2025 at 43,214 people, making up almost a quarter of the total amount.

The number of people on the Live Register totalled 168,600 people in August, latest figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) show, reflecting a decrease of 500 people compared to the previous month.

In its latest data release, the CSO recorded a modest 0.3% decline in the number of people on the Live Register in Ireland.
