Many international companies operating in the State increased their production amid fears of increased tariffs from the United States, with US president Donald Trump announcing plans for a 20% tariff on goods coming from the EU as part of his 'Liberation Day' announcement on April 2. A 90-day pause on tariffs followed, which has since been extended, with EU goods facing a 10% tariff in the interim.
