Building and construction volumes up 6.7% annually
In value terms, building and construction were up by 1% quarterly, while on annual terms, rose by 9.3%.
The volume of production in building and construction rose marginally between October and December last year, rising by 1% compared to the previous three-month period.
New figures released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) on Tuesday showed the volume of building and construction rose by 6.7% annually.
"During the same period, production volume in the non-residential building sector rose by 9.2% and was up by 3.7% in the civil engineering sector, while production volume in residential building also showed an annual increase of 0.4%," said CSO statistician Shane O'Sullivan.
However, figures for the final three months of last year indicate a slowdown in activity, with the volume in the residential building sector falling by 0.1% compared to the July to September period, while the volume index for the non-residential building sector dropped by 1.1%.
In the same period, the volume index for the civil engineering sector rose by 1.4%, the CSO added.
In value terms, building and construction were up by 1% quarterly, while on annual terms, rose by 9.3%.
"Excluding civil engineering, the seasonally adjusted value index grew by 1.4% on a quarterly basis and by 9.8% on an annual basis," Mr O'Sullivan added.
