Despite the increase, electricity prices remain more than 70% lower than their peak. 

The wholesale cost of electricity increased by 12.2% in September compared to the previous month, but remains substantially lower than its peak, new figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) shows.

According to the latest Wholesale Price Index for September, electricity prices were 1% higher compared to September 2023, but overall 70.9% lower than August 2022, when prices hit record highs.
