Decreases were also observed in several sectors, including professional and scientific activities which fell by 4.2%, other service activities, down 3% and accommodation and food service activities which fell by 0.2% in the month. 

The value of services rose by just under 2% in August compared to the previous month, driven by increases in administrative and support activities, new figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) reveal.

Rising by 1.9% in the month, the sectors that recorded the largest value increase were administrative and support service activities which rose by 5.3%, followed by information and communication which, increasing by 3.9%.
