Value of card transactions dips slightly despite busy summer period

New figures show the value of transactions fell to €8.82bn in August, down from the €8.92bn recorded in the previous month

The busy festival season and bank holiday weekend did little to incentivise spending, with the value of card transactions in August declining by 1.12%, new figures from the Central Bank of Ireland reveal.

Monthly card payment statistics released by the regulator showed that the value of transactions fell to €8.82bn in August, down from the €8.92bn recorded in the previous month.
