Global oil prices rise to $83 a barrel amid Gaza ceasefire doubts

Palestinians wait for humanitarian aid on a beachfront in Gaza City on Sunday: US president Joe Biden said a ceasefire that could be signed as early as next week, but Hamas said his remarks were premature.

Crude oil prices have risen as the market focused on uncertainty over a potential Gaza ceasefire and some expectations producer group Opec+ will extend voluntary supply cuts in March.

Brent crude price rose to over $83 a barrel amid mixed signals from the Middle East as US president Joe Biden said Israel was ready to halt its attacks on Gaza for the Muslim holy month of Ramadan in a ceasefire that could be signed as early as next week.
