The dairy sector, which accounts for almost 40% of overall Irish food and drink exports, saw export values decline by 8% to €6.3bn last year.

The value of Irish exports has declined amid falling inflation but remains above pre-pandemic levels, according to a report by Bord Bia.

In its Export Performance and Prospects report 2023/24, the State body said the overall value of Irish exports fell 4% year-on-year as trade prices fell from highs recorded during a period of high inflation in the previous 12 months.
