The Metropole Hotel in Cork city will hold two recruitment days later this month as it looks to hire staff to work across the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival next month.

The MacCurtain Street hotel is hiring a range of part-time roles to cover the festival, which runs across the bank holiday weekend, from Thursday, October 22 to Monday, October 26. Now in its 48th year, the festival brings 100,000 revellers to Cork city each year.

The hotel, which is home to the original Cork Jazz Club, is seeking to hire bartenders, waiters/waitresses, glass collectors, commis chefs, and cleaners. No experience is required as full training will be provided. The recruitment open day will be held between 3pm and 6pm on Tuesday and Wednesday, September 29 and September 30. No booking is required and anyone interested in a role is invited to attend.

Kathleen Linehan of Trigon Hotels which operates the Metropole, said: “The jazz weekend is one of the busiest times of the year for the Metropole Hotel and there is always a great buzz across the four days. We are looking forward to welcoming new recruits to support our team members as we make every effort to ensure all our guests get the most out of their visit, whether they’re staying for the weekend or popping in to enjoy the different live music on offer.”

The positions will support the hotel’s permanent team members during the Cork Jazz Festival but there may be an opportunity to retain some successful candidates afterward.

The Jazz Festival Club at the Metropole Hotel is one of the highlights of the festival, with live acts throughout the hotel, including the lobby.

The 2025 Guinness Cork Jazz Festival delivered a €45m injection into the local economy. The 2026 line-up will include 1970s disco funk superstars Boney M, house music legends Masters At Work, and the Boomtown Rats, as well as jazz acts like British drummer Yussef Dayes, American duo Keyon Harrold and Marcus Strickland, pianist Jason Moran, and London-born saxophonist Courtney Pine.

The festival includes major acts at venues including Cork Opera House, the Everyman Palace, the Triskel, Cork City Hall, and the Metropole itself, as well as a free jazz trail across 70 pubs and other venues, and an outdoor stage at Emmet Place as part of the Big Fringe free performances around the streets of Cork.
