Limerick's Metis acquired by AON group firm NFP

Insurance broker and financial services firm NFP has acquired the Limerick financial planning firm Metis for an undisclosed sum.
NFP, part of the global AON group, said the deal will help build out its private wealth division in Ireland.
Carl Widger, managing director of Metis Ireland, will join NFP as head of Wealth and Financial Planning for NFP in Ireland, and will report to Colm Power, managing director of NFP in Ireland.
The directors expect that the Company will continue to grow the business through increased client numbers, assets under management and recurring income into the foreseeable future.
Metis Ireland was established in 2014 and is regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland. It provides financial planning, investment solutions and wealth structuring to private clients, executives and business owners. It holds offices in Limerick and Dublin, and the business has grown largely through referrals.
In their most recent filed accounts, Metis reported a 42% rise in turnover to €3.56m for the 12 months to the end of 2024 compared to the previous year. Profit after tax increased sharply to €680,391 from €143,880. The directors pointed to continued expansion driven by higher client numbers, growing assets under management and increasing recurring income

The acquisition of Metis follows NFP’s strategic expansion in the Irish market through a series of acquisitions, including The HR Suite, Orca Financial Group and HC Financial, as part of its long‑term growth in wealth management and employee benefits services. In recent years, NFP in Ireland has broadened its capabilities to include pensions, corporate benefits, commercial insurance and individual financial planning.
