Wearable device firm Whoop to grow Limerick presence
Boston firm Whoop has offices at Limerick's Gardens International.
Fitness wearable device firm Whoop plans to grow its Limerick office as part of its global expansion plans.
The Boston company said it would add more than 600 new roles across software, research and design, hardware, product, and marketing as the company continues to scale globally.Â
The majority of new roles will be based in Boston, but Ireland operations are also set to expand further, with plans to grow the Limerick office.Â
Whoop opened its Ireland presence in Limerick's Gardens International Office in September 2024. The company was valued at $3.6bn (€3.1bn) in August 2021 following a $200m funding round.
“Right now, companies are debating whether to hire more people or just invest in AI,” said Will Ahmed, founder and CEO of Whoop.Â
“We are doing both. We are doubling down on exceptional talent and doubling down on world-class AI tools because the combination is what wins. Health monitoring is becoming one of the most important platforms in the world, and Whoop intends to own the category.”Â
