Cork law firm BHK Solicitors to merge with Philip Lee

One of Ireland's largest law firms, Philip Lee, has announced a strategic merger with Cork-based corporate law firm BHK Solicitors.

The deal, which Philip Lee has called a "significant milestone" for the firm, will see its partner headcount exceed 50 following its continued expansion.

The merger will take full effect on February 1, with the combined firm set to trade as Philip Lee LLP. 

Founded in 1993, the Dublin solicitors have grown from a boutique practice to a full-service corporate and commercial law firm with a staff of 180.

In addition to its Dublin headquarters, the firm also has offices in both London and New York. Its clients include AIB, Bank of Ireland, Cairn, Disney, Volkswagen and the HSE.

Philip Lee said the merger was driven by an ambition to better serve its growing client base in Cork and the wider Munster region.

By joining forces with BHK Solicitors, Philip Lee said it will offer clients in Cork and Munster access to a broad pool of specialist legal talent, enhanced service lines and the benefits of a multi-location firm with a strong national and international reputation.

The merger will create a multi-disciplinary legal practice in Cork, with Jonathan Kelly, managing partner of Philip Lee, commenting: “This merger is a natural next step in our firm’s growth journey.

Founded nine years ago by Patricia O’Brien, Gavin Hinchy and David O’Keeffe, BHK Solicitors has established itself as a corporate-focused firm focusing on real estate, corporate transactions and litigation services.
