SundayWorld.com is set to be replaced by a new subscription-based digital brand, Crime World, its owner Mediahuis, has announced.

The new website builds on journalist Nicola Tallant's Crime World podcast, and marks a "significant evolution" in how owner Mediahuis covers crime, courts and the criminal underworld, the company said.

The new website will have a subscription-based model, with an annual subscription costing €99.

Brian Farrell, editor of The Sunday World, described the move as a pivotal moment for the brand and for crime reporting in Ireland.

"The launch of Crime World is a significant moment for Mediahuis and for The Sunday World’s legacy of crime reporting.

"With Crime World, we are taking that tradition into a new era. Replacing SundayWorld.com with Crime World is a bold step, but it is the right one."

Cormac Bourke, editor in chief at Mediahuis Ireland added: "The launch of Crime World is a key milestone in our digital transformation strategy at Mediahuis.

"It underscores our commitment to investing in innovative, trusted journalism that meets evolving audience expectations.

Replacing SundayWorld.com, the new website will go live on November 25 at CrimeWorld.com. It will feature a mix of free and subscriber-exclusive content.

From launch, it will be a subscription-based model offering full access to its exclusive journalism from €11.99 per month or €99 annually.
