Health insurance provider Level Health is freezing the prices of its plans until February 2026, the company said on Monday.
The firm said the move is being made to offer customers more certainty and predictability for their health insurance costs until the end of January. As well as freezing prices, Level Health is also now offering 50% off all kids on Plan B and Plan C until 1 February 2026.
"This will provide our customers with more certainty of their costs over the coming months – a key period when so many people are renewing their health insurance cover,” said Level Health chief executive Jim Dowdall.
Mr Dowdall criticised the Government for not resinstating full tax relief on health insurance premiums in the budget last week. Based on the average adult premium of €1,830 this would have meant a reduction in the cost of insurance for every insured adult by an average of €166.
“The Government must recognise that people investing their own money in health insurance cover are also removing a huge burden from the public health system. If they did not do this, the public health system would collapse. By failing to restore the tax relief on full health insurance premiums, the Government missed a very targeted opportunity to help cushion the cost burden on households," said Mr Dowdall.
"We strongly believe that full tax relief on the cost of health insurance should be reinstated, and Level Health will continue to advocate for the implementation of this measure on behalf of all health insurance customers.”
Level Health policy extras include free health insurance for kids under the age of three, free multi-trip world-wide travel insurance, and discounts on home insurance (50%) and motor insurance (15%) with its partner Aviva.
