Calor has unveiled a vending machine service to buy gas cylinders on demand, with the first two installations opening in Ireland today.

Calor Gas2Go vending machines are stand-alone, solar-powered units and provide self-service access to Calor cylinders, 24 hours a day. The first Calor Gas2Go vending machines have been installed at Kilcock, Co. Kildare and Loughrea, Co. Galway.

"With this new pilot launching this October, we hope to bring improved convenience to our customers," said Calor chief financial officer Mark van Huet.

“We saw a successful launch of this new vending machine service in France by our sister SHV Energy company, Primagaz, and we are pleased to now bring this new technology here to Ireland.

At present, eligible cylinders for refill in the Calor2Go vending machines include Calor’s 11kg Patio gas cylinder (which now contains Calor BioLPG, a renewable gas made from sustainably sourced vegetable oils and waste) and the 11.34kg Butane gas cylinder, which is often used for indoor portable gas heaters, especially during colder months.
