Safety, security, and convenience were all cited as the main reasons Irish consumers prefer using cards for payments. 

Nearly two-thirds of Irish adults would rather pay for products and services using a card rather than cash with many citing safety, security, and convenience, new research by Payments Europe has found.

The report shows that 73% of Irish consumers trust cards over all other payment methods with 55% saying they believe cards are the best payment method when considering safety and security
