Tax Partner at PwC Mairead Connolly has been appointed as this year's President of Limerick Chamber.
Ms Connolly succeeds Noel Gavin, senior vice president at Northern Trust, who held the role throughout 2024.
Ms Connolly has served on the board of Limerick Chamber since 2020, including on the Executive Committee and chairing Governance & Nominations.
“It is both an honour and a privilege to step into the role of President at Limerick Chamber,” said Ms Connolly.
“The Chamber has long been a longstanding driving force which has united our business community since 1815, having created a network where members are supported, encouraged to collaborate, innovate, and champion each other’s success. As a collective voice, we work to shape policies that secure necessary key investments which ensure the long-term prosperity of our region.
"As a Limerick native, I am committed to building on the established legacy passed on from Noel and our predecessors, and driving my vision as President, where the Limerick Chamber will continue to be a powerful advocate, calling for action to lever the assets in the region as a catalyst for regional and national growth in areas including renewable energy, infrastructure and the vibrancy of the city centre.”
During his tenure, outgoing Limerick Chamber President Noel Gavin was involved in advancing the Shannon Estuary’s renewable energy potential and launched the Limerick Gift Card, an initiative designed to support and boost local business.
"Serving as President of Limerick Chamber has been an immense honour, I am very grateful for the support and encouragement of our members, board, and community. Together, we have championed policies that drive growth, advocated for a stronger region, and reinforced the power of collaboration in shaping Limerick’s future.
"As I step aside, I have full confidence in Mairead Connolly’s leadership, her vision, commitment, and passion for Limerick will guide the Chamber to even greater heights.
"To our members and the people of Limerick, I encourage you to continue working together, challenging where needed, and ensuring that our region is represented and remains at the forefront harnessing opportunity and progress.”
