The €971m acquisition of Spanish firm Cellnex's Irish operations by US company Phoneix has been cleared by the State's competition watchdog.

The proposed acquisition of the mobile phone and data mast operator Cellnex Ireland Limited and Cignal Infrastructure Limited by Phoenix Tower International Holdco was announced a year ago.
