Limerick-based Gerry O'Mahony Insurances latest firm to be acquired by Arachas 

Purchase of the Castletroy firm marks Arachas' third acquisition this year

Arachas, the country’s largest nationwide insurance broker today announced the acquisition of Gerry O’Mahony Insurances, a broker based in Castletroy Co. Limerick. Insurance giant Arachas has announced its third acquisition of 2024 with the purchase of Limerick-based Gerry O'Mahony Insurances for an undisclosed amount.

Established 35 years ago, the broker serves the local market of Castletroy and the surrounding areas, specialising in personal and commercial products.

Day-to-day business operations are managed by Gerry’s two sons and former Munster rugby players Barry and Ronan. Post-acquisition, Ronan O’Mahony will stay on in a business development role, where he will help to expand Arachas’ growing footprint in Limerick and the Mid-West area. The remaining four staff members will join Arachas following the transaction, bringing the total number of the broker's staff in the region to 50.

Arachas, which is Ireland's largest nationwide insurance broker, has made fifteen acquisitions of local brokerages since 2020 when it was taken over by the Ardonagh Group. 

Earlier this year, the insurance giant acquired Tom Fogarty Insurances in Tipperary and Gilmartin Insurances in Leitrim.
