Growing customer numbers and a stabilisation of wholesale prices saw Bord Gáis Energy post a profit of €51m in the first six months of 2024, recovering from a loss of €30m in the same period last year.

The energy supplier, part of UK giant Centrica said its retail margins remained below pre-energy crisis levels, however, continued easing in commodity costs allowed the firm to begin returning supply margins towards more sustainable levels, while price reductions could be passed onto customers.
