Cryptocurrency trader, journalist and landlords among latest list of tax defaulters

A cryptocurrency trader, a Cork medical staff provider and a journalist are among those listed on the latest tax defaulters list published by the Revenue.
Topping the list was Transmedix Limited with settlements exceeding €586k. The company, with an address at 12 Woodvale, Herons Wood, Carrigaline in Cork was a medical staff provider and was the subject of a Revenue investigation case for the non-declaration of Corporation Tax, and PAYE/PRSI/USC.
The settlement was made up of €311k in taxes, which included a surcharge of €12.8k, €186k in interest, and €89k in penalties. Transmedix Limited had €463k in unpaid settlements.
The case is one of 16 published by the Revenue settling for a total of €5m. All cases surpassed €100k, with four surpassing €500k.
The second-largest settlement was from a manufacturer of pastry goods and cakes, trading as Broderick's, Ina's Kitchen Desserts Limited, for an audit case of which there was an under-declaration of Corporation tax, PAYE/PRSI/USC and VAT.
The settlement of €535k was made up of €330k in tax, including a surcharge of more than €6k, €146k in interest and €58k in penalties.
Cryptocurrency trader, Graham De Barra, with an address at Rua Praia, Ribeira Seca in Portugal was the subject of a Revenue audit case for the under-declaration of income tax. Total settlements exceeded €202k, which included €89k in tax, €45k in interest and €67k in penalties. The total amount of €202k was unpaid.
Also on the list was former RTÉ broadcaster and commentator, Brian Carthy. Trading as Sliabh Ban productions, he was the subject of a Revenue audit case for the under-declaration of Income Tax, PAYE/PRSI/USC and VAT. With an address of 18 Wainsfort Manor Drive, Terenure, Dublin 6W, Mr Carthy's total settlement of €129k, €109k of which is unpaid, comprised €67k in tax, €42k in interest and over €19k in penalties.
In the three-month period ending in December 2023, a total of 14,039 Revenue Compliance Interventions were settled resulting in a total yield of €255.5m.
Landlord, Andrea Bohm, with an address at Ballycullen House, Ashford in Co. Wicklow was the subject of a Revenue audit case for the under-declaration of Capital Gains Tax. The total settlement of €141k, the entirety of which remains unpaid, comprised €54k in tax, €70k in interest and €16l in penalties.
Another Landlord, Mark Hoste with an address at Flat 3, Ash Lodge, Chester Road, Poynton, Cheshire in the United Kingdom was the subject of a Revenue audit case for the under-declaration of Capital Acquisitions Tax. The €523k, which was paid in full, comprised €318k in tax, €108k in interest and €95k in penalties.
Company director, Mark O'Halloran, with an address at French's Avenue, Cobh in Co. Cork was the subject of a Revenue audit case for the under-declaration of Income Tax. The settlement of €139k, which was paid in full, comprised €81k in tax, €34k in interest and €24k in penalties.
Agricultural contractors, Kelly Farm Modernisation Limited, with an address at Knocknaboul, Ballydesmond in Co. Cork was the subject of a Revenue audit case for the under-declaration of PAYE/PRSI/USC. The settlement of €238k, which was paid in full, comprised €134k in tax, €63k in interest and €40k in penalties.
