Manna's drone system has been under trial for a number of years now, with takeaway items and small grocery deliveries flown to addresses using drones and lowered onto driveways and lawns for collection.

Irish drone delivery firm Manna has further expanded its operations, launching delivery services in Blanchardstown, Dublin, this week and forming a new partnership with Mexican-themed restaurant chain Boojum.

Manna, led by founder and CEO Bobby Healy, is one of several firms using drone technology for a variety of delivery and logistic purposes. The companies claim the revolution in 'last mile' logistics reduces the number of cars on the road, brings down the number of traffic accidents and lowers carbon emissions.

Manna's drone system has been under trial for a number of years now, with takeaway items and small grocery deliveries flown to addresses using drones and lowered onto driveways and lawns for collection.

The company already offers its drone delivery services in Fort Worth, Texas, in the US. Manna said it now offered delivery of Boojum products to up to 100,000 people in the Dublin 15 area and plans to gradually expand in the coming months.

The business has already undertaken trials in Moneygall, Co Offaly, and Oranmore, Co Galway. Posting on social media platform X, formerly Twitter, Mr Healy said the first week had been a success, with the company completing deliveries to 1% of 40,000 homes in Dublin 15 in its first week.

"Food delivery today can be expensive and slow," Mr Healy said. "With more than 150,000 deliveries under our belt across two separate countries, we are more than ready to provide delivery service to another market."

"Boojum is also the perfect partner to help us kickstart our expansion to the Blanchardstown area — we are both Irish-born pioneering brands, collaborating to drive innovation in the food delivery industry — and we are excited to see the reaction from the community as we get started," he said.

Manna has previously partnered with a range of businesses, including Coca-Cola, Tesco and Samsung, and dozens of local businesses, delivering goods to customers.
