The Commission considered that the lack of transposition of Directive is liable to have a negative influence on businesses and consumers.
A top EU court has fined Ireland approximately €2.5m for failing to fulfil its obligation to transpose the Audiovisual Media Services Directive into law.
The European Commission asked legislators to comply with its obligation by November 2021 and Irish authorities said that intensive work was ongoing in order to ensure the swift enactment of the measures necessary to transpose that directive.
