IT and communications service provider Paradyn has secured a tender to manage IT services for six local authorities in a deal worth €500,000 over three years.
The deal will see the Cork and Dublin firm provide access to technical engineers and managed IT support for Cavan, Leitrim, Longford, Louth, Monaghan, and Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown councils.
Paradyn said the contract includes increased network and data security at the councils’ offices and libraries to ensure sensitive information is protected for both employees and more than 600,000 citizens across the six regions. The service is also enhancing network performance and resilience for up to 3,500 county council employees.
It said that with the support in place, internal IT teams are better able to roll out more complex projects and implementations to further enhance services and resources for citizens through advanced network support and expertise provided by Paradyn’s engineers. Paradyn also carried out training and onboarding of the new solution for the local authorities’ IT engineers.
Paradyn has extensive experience working with local authorities. The firm secured €2.8m in contracts with 14 councils and in recent years local authorities invested heavily in managed firewalls, security event monitoring and alerting to support staff working remotely.
Cavan County Council head of information systems Enda Tiernan said they required highly skilled engineers to support their own technical staff with complex, technology-specific tasks and issues.
"Paradyn’s impressive track record with supporting and securing organisations in the public sector made the partnership a great fit," he said.
"With this solution, we have ready access to Paradyn’s expertise across multiple platforms and technologies and, crucially, the reliable support which gives us peace of mind that the services we provide to the public can continue uninterrupted."
Paradyn chief commercial officer Fergal Meehan said: “We were delighted to work with these local authorities on such an important solution, which is improving the employee experience and helping to enhance the vital resources and services available to citizens."
