Competition authority approves purchase of DID Electrical
Select Technology Group announced last month that it was seeking to acquire DID Electrical subject to competition approval.
Apple reseller Select Tech Group’s acquisition of DID Electrical has been completed after approval was given by the competition authority.
The deal was first announced last month with the two companies combined generating an annual revenue of over €250m. The business is headquartered in Dublin and employs 650 people.
Select Tech Group was formerly known as Compu b before its rebranding in 2022. The company sells Apple products in the Irish market with locations in Dublin, Cork, Limerick, and Galway.
Select Tech Group said the acquisition allows them to expand the range of products both in-store and online for Irish tech consumers.
“Additionally, it expands the product range for the enterprise and education market sectors that Select is well established in, further supporting Irish businesses and educational institutions,” the company said.
The deal means that Select Tech Group’s portfolio has expanded to 51 stores across the UK and Ireland of which 29 are located in this country.
DID Electrical stores, which had been family-owned and operated since it first opened more than 60 years ago, will remain under the DID Electrical brand. Select Tech Group’s “premium customer experience” will be integrated into the stores.
