The Dublin-headquartered Omniplex Cinema Group already operates at 38 locations across Ireland and Northern Ireland.
Omniplex Cinema Group is to invest £22.5m (€26.25m) to acquire and renovate new locations in Britain, expanding there for the first time.
The Dublin-headquartered firm, which already operates at 38 locations across Ireland and Northern Ireland, has announced the acquisition of five existing Empire Cinema locations in Birmingham, Ipswich, Sutton, Clydebank, and High Wycombe that will open this month under the Omniplex brand.
The company said further locations will be added next year as it seeks to establish a strong presence in the British cinema market.
Omniplex Cinema Group director Paul John Anderson said this investment would secure 150 existing jobs.
"We are thrilled to bring Omniplex Cinemas to Great Britain," he said.
"This expansion is a testament to our commitment to innovation, quality, and delivering unforgettable moments for our customers."
The Empire Cinema in Birmingham will rebrand as Omniplex from December 6, followed by Ipswich and Sutton on December 8, with Clydebank and High Wycombe rebranding on December 10.
