The reduction takes place with immediate effect.

Yuno Energy, the newest supplier of electricity to the Irish market, has announced a 12% reduction in its unit energy cost for its lowest discounted tariff.

The new price is over €350 cheaper than standard rate offers from other suppliers.

Yuno Energy launched in August of this year with a competitive offering and its launch was followed by a wave of price reductions from all the major suppliers.

The reduction takes place with immediate effect.

The new unit rate for electricity from Yuno is 33.66 cent per kWh (down from 38.05 cent per kWh) and is the cheapest rate in the market.

According to Yuno Energy, the total cost for a typical customer is estimated to be €1,665 per year which is €355 cheaper than the average standard rates from other suppliers.

This is after the recently announced price reductions by other suppliers take effect.

Yuno CEO, Cathal Fay said: “The new rate will be particularly attractive to customers who haven’t switched energy provider in over a year. There is now real value to be had from switching and Yuno is leading the way in this regard.”

Mr Fay said that the company was delighted with the performance since launch.

“We are very happy with the response to our launch. Customer recruitment is going well and the response to our app has been extremely positive.

"Customers know how much energy they use and precisely how much their bill will be throughout the month.”

The company will also offer the choice of a low fixed rate tariff enabling those that wish to do so to lock in their rate for the next 12 months.

Yuno Energy was set up by the people behind Prepaypower – Ireland’s largest pay-as-you-go provider with over 180,000 electricity and 60,000 gas customers.
