Adidas and Puma to re-release classic shoes to take on Nike

Interest in Adidas Samba shoes has surged worldwide
German sportswear giants Adidas and Puma are betting that the trend for low-rise rubber-soled "terrace" sneakers could give them an advantage over Nike this summer but it may not offset weakening US and Chinese demand.
The two companies have trawled their archives to find old styles that could be re-released in new colours, driving renewed interest in the shoes from the 1970s and 1980s named after the standing section at soccer stadiums.
