Top EU official meets Elon Musk over his plan to buy Twitter for $44bn

EU Commissioner for the Internal Market, Thierry Breton (pictured), is one of the first major tech regulators to discuss Elon Musk’s proposed $44 (€41.7bn) takeover of Twitter.

One of the leading officials from the EU has paid a visit to Elon Musk in Texas and came away convinced the billionaire will keep Twitter on the right side of lawmakers.

After meeting Mr Musk on Monday, Thierry Breton, the EU’s internal market commissioner, said that he and the Tesla chief executive officer agreed on everything. “To tell you the truth, there was definitely no disagreement — none,” Mr Breton told Bloomberg in an interview.
