The nominal median annual equivalised disposable income increased to €18,210 last year, a 3.8% increase compared to 2013, according to CSO figures.

However, the Survey on Income and Living Conditions (SILC) in Ireland also found that the ‘at risk of poverty’ rate in 2014 increased to 16.3% compared with 15.2% in 2013.

The CSO report also found that enforced deprivation was experienced by 29% of the population in 2014, down from 30.5% in 2013.

The consistent poverty rate was 8%, down slightly on the 2013 figure of 8.2%.
