SIMI calls for change to new-car registrations system

There has been a call for a change in the way new cars are registered here.

The Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI) has said the current system leads to two thirds of new registrations in the first four months of the year, posing funding and staffing challenges.

The industry's president wants the introduction of an identifying mark, to indicate the time of the year when the car was bought.
