Ryanair to provide email to passengers
Ryanair, using technology provided by 2PM, is to offer passengers access to their personal and business e-mail when they’re away from the office, either at home or abroad.
"Talking eMail" performs the dual role of providing a service to Ryanair, while benefiting Ryanair Telecom through direct revenues and site stickiness.
The deal with Ryanair Telecom is the first partner agreement to be signed by Athlone company 2PM.
2PM’s remote access mail system (RAMS) technology will be re-branded "Talking eMail" and the revenue shared between Ryanair Telecom and 2PM.
RAMS-based "Talking eMail" will enable Ryanair customers to collect and send e-mail using a mobile phone, landline or a web-enabled device such as PDA, from anywhere in the world.
A web link takes passengers who’ve booked Ryanair travel tickets online to the Ryanair Telecom site, where customers are offered a number of telecom services, including Talking eMail, an international roaming SIM and internet telephony services.
2PM technologies was founded in 1999 and now has offices in Athlone and in Plymouth and Crawley in the UK.
In May, 2002 it received €760,000 in funding from Enterprise Ireland, followed by a further funding round in October of €3.2m from Dublin-based IIC Venture Capital. The valuation of the company following the second round of funding was €24m.
