Tourism Ireland, the Irish/British body which promotes tourism in Ireland, has opened a new office in the German city of Frankfurt.

Tourism Minister John O'Donoghue said he is confident the new office will help increase Ireland's share of the German outgoing tourist market, the second largest in the world.

Last year, around 307,000 German tourists visited Ireland and tourism officials are hoping to increase that figure by at least 2% this year.
