iPhone 5 orders backlog
Despite the country being in the midst of one of the most severe recessions that the developed world has ever suffered Apple’s latest handset, which costs up to €679 depending on contracts, is still in high demand
3Ireland said it had seen a record level of demand for the new handset. A spokesperson said:
“We are expecting an update from Apple and expect a new delivery of stock in the few weeks,” he said.
Vodafone Ireland said there had initially been limited supply from Apple.
“While some stores and the online channel might sell out, other stores should have the iPhone 5 in stock,” the company said.
O2 blamed the global demand for the restricted availability.
“O2 has prioritised its customers by offering iPhone 5 to existing O2 customers only on a first come, first-served basis,” the spokesperson said.
eMobile said it is having difficulties in meeting demand.
“Like other providers eMobile does have customers on waiting lists for the iPhone 5,” a spokesperson said.
