Harvey Norman ‘committed to Irish market’

THE chief executive of Australian retailer Harvey Norman in Ireland has said the chain is committed to the Irish market despite recording losses totalling €107m here over the past three years.

The company, which is one of Ireland’s largest retailers of furniture, bedding and electrical goods, currently has 13 stores in Ireland and employs 750.

The retailer recorded losses of €40.5m in 2009, €41.3m in 2010, and €31.3m in 2011, amounting to €107m in overall losses since investing in Ireland.
