Former Ireland manager Steve Staunton declared bankrupt

Ex-footballer and manager of Republic of Ireland Steve Staunton filed for bankruptcy in the UK in April of this year.

The former Liverpool, Aston Villa and Coventry City player, aged 47, declared himself bankrupt, liquidating his assets voluntarily.

The defender – who made 102 appearances for The Republic of Ireland – declared himself bankrupt in April, and there is no allegation of any wrongdoing on his behalf.

The period of bankruptcy is to last until April 15, 2017, and it is not clear if Mr Staunton received a notice, says the Irish Sun on Sunday.
