Doherty ratified as new Donegal manager

John Joe Doherty has been ratified as Donegal's new football manager following a meeting of the County Board in Ballybofey last night.

Doherty was chosen by 27 votes to 19 at the expense of Declan Bonner and Charlie Mulgrew, who were seeking to be appointed as a joint managerial team.

Last night's vote is unlikely to bring an end to the saga, however, as Bonner and Mulgrew plan to take their case to the Disputes Resolution Authority.

They claim the selection process has been mishandled by the County Board.
