’I have to get him home’: Sister of Corkman found in Bangkok pleads to have him returned to Ireland

A Cork man who was missing but later located last week in Bangkok is now in hospital in Thailand and in need of help.

Anthony O’Sullivan, 54, from O’Neill Crowley Terrace in Mitchelstown had been missing since January 18.

His sister Anna is looking for him to be discharged from the hospital in Bangkok and to be brought home to Ireland. She was in contact with the Irish Embassy for help and is still seeking assistance.

Anna Cotter spoke briefly live from the hospital in Bangkok this morning to Patricia Messinger on C103’s Cork Today Show about the situation.

"I’m around the city all day trying to get help and get Anthony discharged," she said.

"But at the moment, I’m at the desk to try to pay and get him discharged. But in order to fly home today or tomorrow, I need a letter from the hospital to say that he can fly.

"But because he’s not 100% better, they’re actually very slow to give me that letter, which is very frustrating.

When asked about her brother’s current condition, she said: "He is very weak and very shook, and has lost an awful lot of weight.

"In saying that, I have to get him home, because I think he needs help.

"He has a perforated bowel, so because of that he has a lot of bacteria in his body and it will take two weeks for it to actually clear with antibiotics and things, but I don’t want to stay in Bangkok two weeks longer."
