’3’ Irish Open set to stay in Killarney

THE ‘3’ Irish Open looks almost certain to be returning to Killarney after the success of this year’s tournament, according to Keith Waters, Director of International Policy with the European Tour.

’3’ Irish Open set to stay in Killarney

He said: “We are still talking to sponsors ‘3’ about where we are going to host next year’s event. We moved to Killarney, and that part of Ireland, because of the holiday period and it was very successful, so there’s every chance of going back there.

“But we are talking to ‘3’ about a few things such as the venue, the length of their agreement and so on. So it does seem the intention is not to change Killarney as the venue and stay where we were this year.”

The European Tour has confirmed the event will be staged from July 28-31, 2011.
