Accumulated profits at Enya’s music firm top €1m

Accumulated profits at Enya’s music business firm topped €1m last year, new figures show.

Recently-filed accounts for the singer’s Aigle Music Company Ltd show that accumulated profits dropped marginally from €1.173m to €1.074m in the 12 months to the end of June, last.

The figures also show that the cash pile during the year reduced from €651,026 to €619,809.

The low-profile Co Donegal singer has sold 75m albums worldwide, with over 26m sold in the US alone during a long career. Her last album release was The Very Best of Enya, released in November 2009. It spent 56 non-consecutive weeks at No1 on the Billboard New Age Album Charts.

The singer — whose real name is Eithne Ní Bhraonáin — was the world’s biggest- selling artist in 2001 and 2002.

Enya owns a third share in the Dublin-registered Aigle Music Company Ltd, along with her manager Nicky Ryan, and lyricist, Roma Ryan. The three have collaborated since 1982 and their work included Enya’s first major hit album, Watermark, that included the hit single Orinoco Flow, which propelled the singer to international fame.

Prior to going solo, Enya sang with the family group, Clannad, which was managed by Mr Ryan.

The figures for Aigle Music show that the money owed to it by debtors decreased from €153,139 to €136,887. The firm’s fixed assets reduced in value from €372,370 to €324,337 during the year.
